In November 2023, graduate workers at Cornell overwhelmingly voted Yes to form a union by a 96% margin. Since then, we have fought to claim power and equality in our workplace, and to ensure that Cornell does not have unilateral decision-making power over our lives. A strong union with strong contract protections is fundamental to claiming our power and ensuring graduate workers are secure and supported.
We are fighting for a future in which we are protected, respected, and valued. However, one year into negotiations, Cornell has yet to make significant movement on our key issues:
- Union shop to build a strong foundation for our union;
- Just cause to protect graduate workers from unjust discipline and discharge;
- Fair wages for financial security.
We demand that Cornell rise to meet our needs as workers so we can conclude our negotiations. We are 3000 workers strong, and we’re ready to use our power.
Cornell has left us no option but to prepare for a strike. To win a fair contract, we need to show Cornell that we are united and ready to strike if Cornell does not meet our demands.
Some high-level questions about going on strike are answered in our Strike FAQ.
By signing, I pledge that if we collectively vote to authorize a strike, I will stand with my coworkers during our strike and withhold 100% of my work for Cornell.
